Airy USA Internship Applicant 6703 Germantown Avenue Philadelphia , PA 19119 Our internships are available year-round and we will accommodate your work schedule. These are volunteer positions, and at times you may qualify for work study. An office interview is preferred, but phone interviews may be conducted if an office interview is not possible. Current internships offered are: *Community Builder* An intern would focus on the Franklinville Section of Mt. Airy , which is a dense community of rowhomes, built around the turn of the century. Blight and abandonment, incompatible industrial uses, and a growing population of aging homeowners compromise Franklinville’s stability. Additionally, opportunities in Transit Oriented Development are being pursued. The intern would gain hands-on experience through physical planning and research, real estate financial analysis, and fostering community connections. Specific project assistance is sought for three current real estate development projects: 1) a 11-unit new construction affordable rowhome development; 2) an 18,000 square foot mixed-use retail and condo adaptive-reuse project; and 3) future transit oriented development. *Community Development Assistant* Potential interns should have an interest in urban economic development, especially business development and recruitment; commercial corridor revitalization; and community building. A double-bottom line orientation of achieving both financial and social returns is the backbone of Mt. Airy USA ’s vision for the future of its community. The intern will assist with The Avenue Project (TAP) - Mt. Airy USA ’s commercial corridor revitalization initiative. TAP’s aim is to improve the business climate along Germantown Avenue - Mt. Airy ’s primary commercial corridor - through coordinated programs in design, promotion, parking, cleanliness, safety, and business retention and recruitment. *Communications Assistant* An intern will create online presentations that promote the organization's various programs and initiatives. The intern will assist with the ongoing development and maintenance of the current website, by updating graphics and content. Intern will have opportunities to work with the communications planning, site marketing, and with the design of promotional graphics and other visual elements for the site. Intern must have experience working on websites, with knowledge of HTML, ASP and Adobe Professional. Intern must have attention to detail and strong work ethic. Intern must have design skills, creativity and the desire for personal and professional growth. Volunteer with Mt. Airy USA Mt.
