The mission of The Avenue Project’s Design Committee is:

To be a catalyst for beautification of Mt. Airy ’s commercial corridor and to improve the image of the corridor by enhancing its physical appearance - focusing on building renovation, new construction, streetscape improvements, visual merchandising, graphics, planning, and zoning.)

Nothing brings in clients like an attractive storefront and Mt. Airy USA is helping local businesses do just that! Mt. Airy USA sponsors Design Day, a program that pairs interested storefront business owners with local volunteer architects who assist them with developing exciting ideas for storefront renovations and provides them with façade designs free of charge.

If you business is interested in obtaining façade assistance and would like to participate in our next Design Day please contact our Director of The Avenue Project, Cicely Peterson-Mangum. Thanks!

Spotlight: Groben’s Seafood- Groben’s Seafood is where people throughout Northwest Philadelphia go for fresh seafood. The sandwich shop next door is justly famous for its founder hoagies. But its façade was drab and outdated—the sandwich shop didn’t even have its own sign.

Working with Mt. Airy USA , Groben’s was able to get a matching façade grant to transform its stodgy exterior into something exciting and appealing. New, larger windows provide a more open, inviting storefront, and a colorful neon sign lets passers-by know what’s waiting for them inside.
