The Avenue Project (TAP) is a comprehensive business district improvement strategy modeled after the National Main Street Program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Its goals are to make Germantown Avenue a more attractive and inviting street for businesses, local residents, and visitors.

TheAvenue Project is supported through a network of community residents organized around four volunteer committees. Volunteers establish design standards, award storefront façade grants, host promotional events, and develop business recruitment materials.
